About this place
Stepping past the noren of a traditional sushi restaurant, deep-fried fish is rarely the first thing diners expect, but here it has become the main attraction. Within walking distance of Ebisu Station, Sushi Hiroichi fills at lunch with guests seeking set meals that bring together nigiri sushi with fried, grilled, and simmered fish preparations.
The centerpiece of the daytime menu is the Aji-Awase Teishoku, which takes fresh horse mackerel typically reserved for sashimi and fries it until the coating is crisp and light, preserving the tender, flaky flesh beneath. Accompanied by grated daikon with ponzu, the fried fish is paired with a generous serving of fresh sashimi—a luxury uniquely suited to a sushi shop. The generous hospitality extends to free refills on rice, hot miso soup, and small sides of natto, ensuring an exceptionally hearty midday break.
Fish lovers can explore beyond fried dishes as well. Options include the Yaki-Awase Teishoku, pairing salt-grilled striped jack with sashimi, and the Ni-Awase Teishoku, which features fish simmered in flavorful broth alongside raw cuts. Additions like the compact 3-piece chokotto sushi or the Wednesday-only negitoro don offer even more ways to customize the meal.
When sushi takes center stage, diners can tailor their portions from a standard 7-piece set to 9 pieces with Nigiri 1.2 or 11 pieces with Nigiri 1.5. With welcoming counter and table seating, the shop is just as accommodating for relaxed daytime dining as it is for evening omakase courses and sashimi shared over drinks.
